Code of Ethics
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS), I have developed a set of ethical commitments that reflect the values of each regulatory body and outline what they mean for our work together. You can download a copy of the code of ethics here.
Autonomy
The principle of autonomy is fundamental in counselling, highlighting the client's right to self-determination and personal agency. It involves respecting their ability to make informed decisions and promoting their sense of control over the process.
Competence
Competence reflects the practitioner’s knowledge, skills, and experience related to a particular subject area.

Respect
In counselling, respect refers to the fair and impartial treatment of all clients and the provision of adequate services. Practitioners must be mindful of their own judgments and biases, taking necessary precautions to offer a service that is not influenced by personal prejudices. A commitment to equality of opportunity ensures that every client is treated with dignity, and their needs are addressed in a way that upholds their rights and individuality.
