A trigger record is a brief note or entry that captures information about a specific event, situation, or interaction that caused a strong emotional or psychological reaction.
What happened? When? Where? Who? Was it something you felt, saw, heard, smelt or thought?
How did you feel emotionally? How intense were these emotions? Did you notice any physical sensations? Where in your body did you feel them?
What thoughts or images did you have? Did this remind you of a specific memory or event? What was the worst thing that could have happened?
What did you do? Did you move your body in any way? Did you say anything? Did you leave? How did your behaviour help or hurt in the moment?
Are you in danger now or is your previous trauma distorting your view of the situation? How was this trigger different from the original trauma? What is happening now? Where are you, who are you with?
